LagoonFest 2024

SORRY BUT WE HAVE DECIDED NOT TO GO AHEAD WITH LAGOONFEST IN 2025.

We will be hosting one or two smaller Lagoon events though! More info coming soon…

It took over a year to plan and the one thing we could do nothing about was the weather! Despite the downpour, many people gathered around the stage to be welcomed by Hovarians Council Leader Bella Sankey, comedian Zoe Lyons, and LagoonFest Patron Norman Cook, who officially opened the event with a limerick.

The general consensus was it was a great success, despite the rainy outbursts. There were hoots of laughter from the sold out Gather Inn Comedy Tent, several canines (mainly labradors) didn’t catch sausages at the Dog Show, people danced to the music in the rain, there were full houses for Abie Longstaff (author) and Mr Pineapple Head (entertainer) at the Children’s Area, model yachts and paddle boards were steered across the Lagoon, several food stalls, Unbarred Brewery and the Raffle Tent sold all their wares, there were long queues at the Tombola gazebo and the variety of items at the stalls was huge! On top of all that, local artists Carrie Stanley, Cassette Lord, George Fox, and Pauly the Painter created original artworks which we will be auctioning at a later date. The Lagoon businesses also did a good trade considering the weather, but unfortunately the skateboard sessions were postponed for rain-related health and safety reasons.

None of this could have happened without our 50-plus volunteers and our Sponsors: Cheese Hut, Gather Inn, Hove Village Nursery, Lagoon Funplay, Lagoon Watersports, Rockwater, St Christopher’s Prep School, and Shoreham Port; and all our raffle and tombola donors. Thanks to all of them.
