Hove Lagoon Gardening Group
We are gardening at the Hove Lagoon Pavilions Gardens every Saturday morning 9-11 – why not come and join us!
Gloves, kneeling pads and tools are provided, just wear sensible footwear and bring your enthusiasm. Everyone is welcome but under 16s should be accompanied by an adult.
Hope to see you there!

New Signage

Did you spot our lovely new posters in the notice boards under each of our pavilions? They are to help you identify the lovely flowers and plants that we have growing in the flower beds. Here’s a link for a PDF view so you can zoom in.
New Spring Bulbs
Did you spot them? Our crack gardening team planted over 900 bulbs in one planting session in November ’24, and it was a joy to see the Mixed Trumpet and Narcissus (daffodils), Allium (sphaerocephalon) and Camassia (leichtlinii ‘Caerulea’) coming through earlier this year.

Hove Beach Park

Now fully open Hove Beach Park is the city’s first new park in more than 100 years! Plus there’s plenty more excitement to come with the announcement of Yellow Wave being involved, and although the Friends of Hove Lagoon are not directly involved we are excited for the extensive and well thought through planting throughout the Hove Beach Park development.

The Lagoon Pavilions Gardens Planting Scheme

June 2021
FoHL have an ongoing Planting Scheme which aims to enhance the plant and insect diversity of Hove Lagoon. So far we have developed the Lagoon Pavilions Gardens, and the Big Beach Cafe Walls.

June 2022
Phase 1 of Friends of Hove Lagoon’s Planting Scheme was realised in June 2021 with the creation of two small but beautiful wild gardens next to the two pavilions at the Western end of the Lagoon.
The Big Beach Cafe Walls

April 2022
In December 2021 the Planting Scheme was expanded with the planting of a delightful selection of Alpines along the tops of the walls around the Big Beach’s seating area.
