Dear Supporters. Welcome to Spring – well sort of!
It’s raining hard this morning so the Gardening Group may have to reconvene next Saturday. We very much need volunteers to help, so if you would like to join, please let Tom know at hovelagoongardeners@gmail.com
Our next Lagoon Clean Up will be held next Saturday 25th March from 9.30am-12.30pm. Wear suitable clothes, footwear and gloves and bring any useful tools. We will provide everything else. Fun for all the family, whilst making Hove Lagoon more beautiful!! Meet between the Big Beach Cafe and the Pirate pool.
We often “host” rough sleepers at the Lagoon, particularly under the eaves of the Pavillions. If you wish to help them, please contact the charity Streetlink at www.streetlink.org.uk They visit the person/people and liaise with the council on rehoming. Sometimes the person does not wish to be moved on, but it’s important for us to try, for their welfare. Streetlink also welcomes donations.
If you would like to send me your high resolution landscape photos of the area to be considered for our FoHL/HDSA calendar, you have a few weeks left. Permissions needed.
The first stage of Kingsway to the Sea has begun. Some changes at Hove Lagoon will be noticed soon, but the majority of the work will take place at the end of the project timetable in the Spring/summer of 2024. For more info see the Ktts pages on the council’s website.
The tyre tracks that have appeared on the Lagoon grass were caused by some heavy equipment being delivered and we hope the grass will recover sooon.
Best wishes,
Sue Johnson
